In light of discussions held in the Forum workshops, this plenary session will reflect on potential strategies for asserting the key role of cities and regions in crafting and implementing directives for responsible globalisation, both in their local context and at the global level. Their role takes three forms:
- as a level of governance over economic and social processes, working with the national and supranational levels
- as a forum for building multi-actor alliances for new approaches combining economic, social and environmental dimensions
- as a group actor, in cooperation with other cities and regions, promoting new forms of international solidarity.
