2006 Objective : people-oriented economic development... for a fairer globalisation

Globalization integrates and disintegrates: while the liberalisation of trade has enabled regions which were at a disadvantage to move into development dynamics, it has also contributed to deepen inequalities between territories and even inside territories.

Sometimes great wealth and extreme poverty co-exist in a same geographical sector. This process endangers existing solidarity foundations, induces the exclusion of territories and populations and has an important impact on migratory fluxes.

Reflection will evolve around the identification of new development dynamics, the roles of public aid and private investment.

It will also be a question of deepening relationship roles between territories and collective networks in the implementation of new policies combining competition, cooperation and solidarity.
